Harness

To develop wiring harnesses we work with the programs Catia E3D, LCable or LDorado. From geometric and electrological data we produce cable harnesses for prototypes, samples, preproduction series and zero series. Semcon’s services include all steps necessary to manufacture a fully operable cable harness outside a highly automated series production facility. That includes techniques like:

• Crimping and double crimping
• Tin-coating of leads
• Ultrasonic welding
• Twisting of several cables
• Coiling of cables
• Equipping and fitting of housings
• Final laying of cables, including the complete cable harness, manually
• Cable harness testing
• Cable harness commissioning

The trend in cable harness production is towards further weight reduction. This is achieved, for example, by reducing the cable cross sections, using new materials to standardize components and production processes, and by creating fundamentally new architectures for on-board power supply systems.

In addition, our employees in the Harness department are busy modifying and technically upgrading existing wiring harnesses and adapting them to new circumstances and models. In view of the fact that a huge percentage of the future innovations in the automobile will be based on electronics, this unit will play an increasingly influential role.
