Exhaust Systems

The members of the Exhaust Systems product team deal with all the thermomechanical functions of an exhaust system. This work encompasses:

• Modal analyses
• Assembly/production simulations
• Transient thermal simulations
• Lifetime simulations

The central area of interest is fluidic design (aspects such as backpressure, resonance and sound pressure) and the design of catalytic converters with regard to equal distribution of flow and counterpressure. The focus is on the points of connection with the vehicle, their degree of decoupling, excitation level and frequency range.

From the inlet of the exhaust manifold to the outlet of the tailpipe, we design all clamp connections, screw connections, decoupling elements and absorber elements. This also includes simulating thermomechanical fatigue strength and fatigue strength under vibratory stresses. We perform these tasks on components and entire systems for practically all exhaust system manufacturers.
