Case: Information design and information structure at CRYO AB

Semcon supported CRYO AB with an information architect for defining the information structure and setting up documentation management processes, routines and templates in a complex plant design project.

Challenge
When CRYO AB was starting up a pre-study for the delivery of a complete turn-key cryogenic facility for handling of liquefied gases, the need for a documentation partner was identified.

The documentation aspects of the project were of great importance due to the safety aspects and extraordinarily high customer demands. CRYO chose Semcon as its documentation partner which meant that Semcon was given the responsibility for documentation management within this assignment.

Solution
Initially, Semcon built up an understanding of the project, including contracts, standards and other explicit requirements. Our senior documentation expert set up the project and started the continuous process of educating the rest of the team as well as other stakeholders in the documentation requirements and the importance of them.

During the project, Semcon ensured that processes, routines and templates for supporting the project were created for both producing the required documentation as well as for quality assurance.

Result
Semcon extensive expertise in technical information was put to test in this project of high complexity. CRYO received strong support to set up an information structure and manage customer documentation issues both on a strategic and operational level in this project where documentation was not only a requirement but a customer focus issue.
